A ten week program designed help young musicians master their instruments and to form bands Registration for this event has now closed. The bands that complete the program will open the Leverhulme Park event, and have the opportunity to play at the Youth Manchester Games in July.
Showcase Showdown
Musicians and bands from schools across Bolton will fight for the title of Showcase Showdown champions 2008 at Thornleigh Salesian College on July 10.. Bolton's hottest young bands will battle it out at the live final to decide who will win the honour of opening this year's Bolton Music Showcase on July 26. The winning bands will also have the opportunity to play at the Youth Manchester Games in July. Say It, Sing It, Shout It
On July 19 there will be a whole day of guerrilla music and poetry events to lead up tp the main Music showcase, organised in co-ordination with students from the University of Bolton. Bolton Music Showcase
Bolton's best unsigned bands will strut their stuff as the town's annual free music event returns bigger and better than ever on July 26 from noon. In a full day of music, bands of every age and genre will turn Leverhulme Park into a hotbed of musical talent. The event will be opened by the winners of the Showcase Showdown 2008, followed by the very cream of the town's music scene. In addition there will be art events, workshops, local craft stalls and camper vans that will make MTV's Pimp My Ride go green with envy. Local performance poetry collective Write Out Loud will organise open-mic poetry performances, Banksy wannabes can try their hand at interactive art, and future Oscar winners can take part in on-site drama workshops at this family-friendly event.
