It’s long way from High School English lessons… Performance poetry collective Write Out Loud are looking for poets to perform at an open mic event at this year’s Bolton Music Showcase.
The organisation, which has its headquarters in Bolton but which has a national web site, will be hosting an event at the Showcase from 5pm to 7pm at Leverhulme Park on July 26.
Write Out Loud holds regular poetry nights in Bolton, Wigan and Rochdale, and “irregular ones” in Oldham and Bordeaux.
The organisation aims to encourage “ordinary folks” to share their poetry at open-floor read-around events across the country.
Gemma O’Neill from Write Out Loud said: “The showcase gives us a great opportunity to hear from new & exciting performers and as well as poets we’re looking for everything from rappers and lyricists to singer/songwriters, rhymesters and story tellers. It’s going to be fantastic!”
Anyone interested can contact Write Out Loud via the website, www.writeoutloud.net or by e-mailing gemma@writeoutloud.net.
